2010

2009 was a big year for Tara.  She completed Rolex for the 2nd time, and
then spent the rest of the year starting her new family.  She got married to
Cesar Contreras at her parents farm on July 24 and this fall  they welcomed
their daughter Lucia Marie Contreras.  Tara plans to spend some time in
Aiken with her mother and to get back into competing.  As always she is
accepting horses in training to compete or sell.

Tara's Background
Tara has been riding since she was a little kid, thanks to her mother,
who has built up a solid horse business throughout the past 30 years.

Tara has competed three times at the Rolex Kentucky Four Star on her
15-year-old bay gelding, Buckingham Place.  She has had "Buck" since he
was a 6-year-old off the track, and has done most of the training herself,
with help from her mother, coach Phillip Dutton, and others.  She has also
successfully completed the three-star at Fairhill in Maryland three time finish
in the top half every time.

She has also competed on two Young Rider teams. The one-star team in
2001 in Temple Farms, Illinois, and on the two-star team in 2003 in
Bromont, Canada, where she finished 9th individually on her mare,
Carakat.

Tara graduated from Lincoln University, (Pa.) in May 2006 with a Bachelor
of Arts in Anthropology and Religion.  She also has a minor in Chinese and
spent one semester in Kunming, Yunnan, China, during the fall of 2004.

She has also recently received a grant through the American Horse Trial
Foundation .  Competing at the Advanced level is expensive, and if Tara
has any hope of riding for the U.S. Equestrian team, she needs your help!
Please see below for details of how to donate.

She would also like to thank all those who donate their products, it helps
immensely! (Please scroll down to see who supports Tara).

Please Consider Donating for 2010!

Donations are 100% tax deductible according to IRS Code
Section 501(c)(3).  The American Horse Trials Foundation was
established in 1987 to assist 3-Day Event Riders and
Organizers in raising tax deductible financial support for
national and international competition.  In 1996 the Bylaws were
revised so that the Foundation could assist riders competing in
the related disciplines of dressage and show jumping.  I have
recently established grant eligibility with the AHTF.  By making a
tax deductible contribution to the AHTF, you will be helping me
and my horse realize our potential and make my dreams come
true by possibly competing in the Olympic games this coming
year or to compete in England at the Burghley 3-day in
September.

Upcoming Prospects.....

Home bred, Harry (Northern Hat), is out of
Carakat by Harry the Hat.  He enjoyed all
the attention of being broke, and Tara is
very excited about working with him as a 5
year old.
